Ashaver220

collaboration with Mateusz Janiszewski, Maciej Ozog

Curator: Krystyna Piotrowska

The Project was made by the ashaver220 group and was realized with the help of mobile communication specialists and the hypertextual writer. The project was temporary attempts to rebuilt and separate the borders of the ghetto and overlap those borders on the map of contemporary Warsaw. Mobile phones were used to localise the ghetto borders. When the project participant crossed the former ghetto walls he received a lot of short messages (he was in the centre of Warsaw, former ghetto’s site). Project Ashaver220 used the context of the place in order to emphasize the forms of contemporary technological ‘imprisonment’. It builds a virtual network of its users, it makes them aware of the fact that we are controlled and subjected to technology.
Ashaver220 also builds a memorial to the city of Warsaw.
