Katarzyna Krakowiak will be preparing a new project at the Lisbon Architecture Triennale, curated by the Architecture Snob – Tomasz Malkowski and Marcin Szczelina. “Closer Louder – The Great and Secret Show” will take place in the Banco de Portugal building
In Lisbon, she will create the “Closer Louder – The Great and Secret Show” in an aisle of the Banco de Portugal building, where the old, 1755 São Julião church used to be. The baroque temple was desacralized in the 30s of the 20th century and then was passed to the bank for use. This part of the building is currently undergoing transformation to become the Museum of Money, which will be opened for sightseeing next year.
The curators express their assumptions in the context of deconstruction of architecture. Krakowiak will overwrite architecture and erase its primary functions. She will deconstruct the building to deprive its users from their current habits. The monumental installation will serve as a critique of functionalism and as a proposal of new meanings for the architecture of the building. More about Katarzyna Krakowiak’s project coming soon.
